Interview with TimorSaid
Thank you for taking your time with the interview for AllArtSupport.
AllArtSupport Hello Tim, please tell us a little bit about yourself. How did you get into the world of photography?
TimorSaid Hello, my name is Tim Said. I am 21 years young and live in Hamburg, Germany. As you may have noticed I do Pakour. Parkour is more than just a sport to me; it has become a way to live. As I turned 18 I got my first DSLR. My dad bought me the camera after I finished my A-levels. By the time I had no idea of photography. Day by day the camera was with me and that is how I got into the world of photography.
AllArtSupport Which are the reasons you have made an account in deviantART? Which are your expectations?
TimorSaid Well, friends told me that my pictures are good. I wanted to expand the feedback and ask more people about their opinion. After some research on the internet I found deviantART. It sounded like a perfect match to what I was looking. Instantly I recognized how large and graciously the community is. My “first breakthrough” was the DD I got on the 2013-05-19 for “fly high”. I really enjoyed it.
AllArtSupport Could you name some of your favorite artists? (Painters, musicians, writers, etc.)
TimorSaid I really adore Albert Watson. The way he expresses feeling and tension in a work is awesome. He made his dream become true and had the chance to see the world through his lens. Talking of music I really, really love to hear Gramatik. His mixture of electro, jazz and hip-hop is ******* awesome! Try it.
AllArtSupport What type of photography do you like most and why?
TimorSaid I don’t have the “type of photography”. I love photography in general. That is what makes photography so great; there are many, many different angles you can see things from.
AllArtSupport What is your equipment list and why have you chosen those particular things?
TimorSaid To be honest I don’t have much. I got my Nikon D5100 and the standard-kit lens. That’s all. I try to make the best of it.
AllArtSupport Your urban photos show a lot of creativity on your part, how do you choose your locations when shooting?
TimorSaid I don’t choose the location, they do it. As I said my camera is always by my side. When I walk through the city and see a stunning scene I just take my camera and shoot it!
AllArtSupport What is your process? From beginning to end, how do you prepare your photo sessions?
TimorSaid I am really spontaneous. I don’t like to prepare my photo session because I am of the opinion that preparation makes pressure. When I take picture I have to be free and relaxed. The best pictures are those you make by coincidence.
AllArtSupport What is your favorite camera setting, that without it, you think your photos wouldn’t have “Tim’s touch”?
TimorSaid I do like the term “Tim’s touch”. It is really important to express the light as you see it. Photography is painting with light. Mostly I use the A-mode and try to capture the light as naturally as I can. Afterwards I play a bit with the colors, that’s all.
AllArtSupport Out of all your beautiful work, which piece is the one that has given you more satisfaction and why?
TimorSaid Definitely “fly high”. It was a cold and windy day. We had an interview and were about to go as Max, one of my team members from my team Lazy Basics did a backflip. I told him to do it again just one more time. I do know that exactly pressed the trigger one time and there I had my shot.
AllArtSupport What would be the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in terms of photography?
TimorSaid You learn the see the world from another perspective. This new perspective is not as obvious as most people think. You need the right eye and some time to get used to it. Today I don’t see the street as streets. I see them as an art scene.
AllArtSupport Is there anything in relation to photography that you haven’t explored yet and you would love to learn more about?
TimorSaid I really would like to take more pictures of persons like portraits and so on. Furthermore I could see myself become more interested in videography. There you can capture everything in motion as if it were alive.
AllArtSupport Your quote?
TimorSaid “The world is your playground. Go and paint with the light your eyes see”.
AllArtSupport If you could give a useful piece of advice to someone who is considering photography, what would it be?
TimorSaid Try it, just try it. Nothing works perfectly at its first time. You have to take hundreds of pictures until you find a good one. Stay patient.
AllArtSupport Any last words of wisdom you would like to share with us today?
TimorSaid I really thank you all for supporting my photography. Without you it would not be possible. Try to take as many pictures as you can because they remind you of your life.
AllArtSupport Thank you so much Tim, for sharing your world with us today!
